“Fandom”: Why did I ever stop hating you?

So, recently I decided to stop hating on “fandom” as a concept because I love TV shows and talking about them and joking about them and because I finally found a tiny, tiny corner of fandom that I thought was free of all of the terribility of fandom.  It wasn’t misogynistic, or full of straight girls with gross fetishizing ideas about gay men and seemed to be devoted to doing the opposite.  And I was so stoked!  I was like, omg fandom I love you! You are adorable! You even are militantly pro-talking-to-your-cat.

So last night before bed I was like, oh tumblr, I wonder what my adorable fandom of sweetness and light is doing right now.

Oh.

Some of them are twitter stalking their “favorite” actress with invasive, harrassing questions about her sex life. 

Fucking fandom.  

(I mean, tbf, most of tumblr posts were about how horrible this is and contrary to the very spirit on which their fandom is built and exceptionally ironic in context.)
